Today I decided to make my mock model using styrofoam. First I showed my Technical Drawings to sir related to the abstract hand I had made which had proper dimensions in it. Before going to the workshop I had a one on one session with sir in which we discussed why I had chosen styrofoam as my mock model and what was my reason to choose lego as my final model. I chose styrofoam for my mock model as it was easily available and also would have that perfect cuboid shape I need for my mock model.
I told sir why I chose lego as the grip was related to gaming and lego fit in quite well in the theme. I went to the workshop and made a mock model out of styrofoam. I first marked the shapes in the styrofoam and then cut them out using the styrofoam cutting machine. After making every individual finger I stuck them together to the palm using small toothpicks and to depict movement in the thumb I made a small cut behind the thumb so that it could easily fold.
I showed my mock model to sir and explained him about all the movements needed in the model. Next I had to make a stand for my model as my hand wouldn’t be at a 90 degree angle so I used a small styrofoam block and toothpicks and made the base and put my model on top of it at angle. After showing my mock model, sir and I started talking about my final model. It will be made by small blocks but the styrofoam didn’t act like those so sir suggested that I either use another material for my final model which would be like styrofoam or make a few lego drawings and then start making the final model out of lego. I made a few lego drawings related to the final model and started working on the final model.
