Ma’am started the class by telling us about gradients. We already knew about gradient as we did it in Illustrator so Ma’am asked a few questions related to it and we answered without any hesitation. Ma’am taught us how to fill Gradient inside a shape. We used different kinds of gradients in different shapes. To make a gradient inside a shape:
- Make the shape.
- Click on the Gradient Tool, it will open a Gradient Library on the menu bar.
- Choose the style from the Gradient.
- Drag the Gradient inside the shape.

Ma’am then taught us how to use gradient in pictures and give it a nice effect. There are two ways to use the Gradient Tool in pictures:
- Using Gradient Tool on pictures by decreasing its opacity:
- Select a picture.
- Make a new layer.
- Fill the layer with Gradient.
- Decrease the Opacity.
- Applying the Gradient on the picture and then using Blending modes to merge the picture with the Gradient:
- Select a picture.
- Make a new layer.
- Fill the layer with Gradient.
- Click on “Normal” (above layer) and choose which type of Blend suits the picture.

Ma’am then taught us how to use 3 images and Gradient tool to make a picture.
- Open one picture in Photoshop.
- Place another picture on top of the existing picture.
- Use Blend Tool and blend those pictures.
- Open one more picture.
- Use the Blend tool again to give a nice effect.

Ma’am then taught us the Magic Wand Tool. We have already done this in Illustrator but this time Ma’am used the Magic Wand tool with the Lasso Tools which made cutting out images a lot easier. Basically the Magic Wand tool selects parts filled with the same colour, so Ma’am selected an image with a background colour and she simply clicked on the background colour with the Magic Wand Tool and selected all the parts with the same colour. If there are different shades of the same colour, you can increase the intensity of the Tolerance(located in the menu bar) to select the remaining shades.
Ma’am taught us Clip Mask in Photoshop. Clip Mask is used to place an image on an object or a text. You simply select the image and make an object in which you want to place the image and then place the image on top of the object (NOTE: Earlier in Illustrator, we used to place the object on top of the image), right click on the layer and select Clipping Mask. We can do the same using texts(make sure to use a bold text).

Ma’am then used all the tools we have learned in Photoshop till now and made a Movie poster. She used different Gradients, Blend Tool, Clipping Mask, Lasso Tool and many more to make a nice movie poster. She gave us a task to make a movie poster.
