Integrated Studio

WEEK 1

The lecture was started with a TED talk video by Christoph Niemann called “You are fluent in this language”. It helped me to look at things with a completely different perspective which helped us later in the tasks assigned to us during the class.

Learned about abstract drawing. Drew things using lines and dots only which depicted the topics said below:

  • Your Happy Place
  • Highlights of your journey to School
  • State of Mind in the morning
  • Thoughts when you look out of the window
  • Best Friend

For the topics given above, we had to depict them in lines and dots only and without using any shapes.

WEEK 2

Last week we made 25 abstract drawings and based on those drawings, Ma’am guided us on how to convert those drawings into 3D by using paper and cutter and shaping them according to our drawings. We made a few and the rest of it was given as homework. We had to show our 3D models to Ma’am so that she could confirm the ones to be kept and the rest was to be discarded and redone. Only a few of my 3D models got approved and the rest are being done again.

WEEK 3

Based on the metaphors given in the integrated seminar class, we had to draw abstract drawings of those metaphors in a box using black pen and a few shapes.

The 10 metaphors I came up with are

  1. He is a journal. always there for you.
  2. His thoughts are like champagne, overflowing when popped.
  3. He speaks a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see, kindness.
  4. He’s full of surprises, just like Pandora’s box.
  5. He perseveres and is full of grit, just like a river through a mountain.
  6. His mind was like the earths core, deeper you dig more complex it becomes.
  7. During the presentation he was very bod, like a knight.
  8. His life was an unpredictable voyage and only he could decide if he wants to sail or drown.
  9. His words are like thunder, they strike loudly.
  10. His life was like a birds nest, slowly and steadily coming together perfectly.

WEEK 4

We showed our metaphors and our abstract drawings to our teacher and she accepted a few and rejected the rest. We had to redo a few metaphors and their abstract drawing. After getting all the metaphors and their drawings accepted by Ma’am, we started converting those drawings into 3D. We did a few in class and the rest was given as homework.
