Today we discussed about the Greek Civilisation.

Greek era: 900 BCE – 30 BCE

Greeks always idealised human form in their culture. Their architecture always had human forms.

Greek mythology: personify everything. These stories concern the origin and the nature of the world, the lives and activities of deities, heroes, and mythological creatures, and the origins and significance of the ancient Greeks’ own cult and ritual practices.

They had open amphitheatres which would signify entertainment and culture.
Acropolis of Athena: It depicts that the city is fortified and ready for war.

The poles were thick from the bottom and got a little thinner at the top so as to be seen in the same width when seen in perspective. The part after the pole was made quite broad so as to take the weight of the structure.

Greek knowledge:

1.Structures 2.Sculptures 3.Pottery

Detailed carvings were meant for gods which was another reason why the architectural scale was so large. Instead of signing their work, they used to make their faces on the body to mark their work.
